Education...

I honestly do not think that girls are educated properly in school about self-esteem and confidence. I can never remember being advised on how to feel confident or how to raise my self esteem. We might have touched on it in a PSHE (physical social health education) lesson once but that was it. I believe that your teenage years are when you are must vulnerable and when you learn the most about yourself. If you are not warned about the capitalist illusion then you will be sucked into false class consciousness, and .
made to believe that the picture you are being shown is real.

I myself have found a few 'self help' websites but in my opinion they aren't helpful in the slightest. Some were aimed at parents on how to educate and guide their daughters. One website called 'Love our children' posted quotes such as "Your daughters are not born with self-esteem" and "Girls are more likely to drop out of school. And they’re at greater risk of suicide than boys". The website itself is very simple and stereotypical. It does however say something useful about the media "No matter what a girl’s body shape is she should be taught to like and respect her body the way it is built, and make the most of what she has …not what the media dictates". Maybe if the rest of the site was like this then maybe it might of some help.

Here's a video I found on YouTube when I typed in self help on confirdence for girls.
